FAITHFUL PARTNERSHIP & ETERNAL PURPOSE
In the Scripture, kingdom alliances are binding relationships formed for mutual purpose, protection, and cooperation. While often established for political, military, or social reasons, every alliance was measured by one standard: faithfulness to God’s covenant.
The Bible presents both wise and unwise alliances.God blessed partnerships that advanced His purposes and reflected His righteousness, such as those made by Abraham and David. However, alliances that compromised worship, encouraged idolatry, or placed trust in human power rather than God brought spiritual decline and judgment, as seen in the reigns of Solomon, Ahab, and other kings.
The biblical principle remains clear: every kingdom alliance should be built on truth, integrity, and obedience to God. Genuine partnerships strengthen God’s people, promote His mission, and advance His kingdom, while compromising alliances weaken spiritual life and distract from God’s calling.
David & Jonathan Kingdom Alliances
Both shared a truly unique and beautiful alliance. Their connection transcended the ordinary, allowing them to meet and communicate in the spirit realm unlike any other. As soul friends, they experienced a wonderful sensitivity and closeness stemming from God-made alliances. Perfect understanding and trust flourished between them, transcending familial ties. Their hearts were open, fostering an environment where nothing was hidden. They felt safe and secure with each other. Jonathan, as the son of the king Saul, had the right to the throne yet acknowledged the divine call upon David’s life as the next king of Israel. He made the covenant alliances. Jonathan submitted himself to the will of Almighty and gave away the armour and the throne to David.
Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. Saul took him that day, and would not let him go home to his father’s house anymore. Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt. So David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved wisely. And Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul’s servants. 1 Samuel 18:1-5
