The Biblical pattern of the community being one body of Christ, one kingdom, family, and one household of God requires us to work and serve one another as members of one community. While we meet weekly in various communities, it’s clear that any ministry established by God cannot be considered a so-called ministry because it’s still within the same community of believers in the city. If our only concern is our church, we may view these ministries as outside or adjacent to us, but not as a part of us.
The body is comprised of multiple members who are joined together and all are connected individually to Jesus, who is the head. Each member has a unique function assigned by God, with some being apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. Apostle Paul told the Body of Messiah that God has designated these individuals in the church: apostles, prophets, teachers, miracles, gifts of healing, helpers, administrators, and varieties of tongues (1 Corinthians 12:28). We all need each other.
